Dance in the curriculum.
Nursery Dance
During the week we visit nurseries, pre-schools and play groups teaching dance and movement to children.
Nursery dance and movement classes provide a fantastic foundation in movement and musicality at a young age and are invaluable tools to develop each child's motor and co-ordination skills, body awareness, social interaction, self confidence, behavior in a group setting and much more.
Most pre-school classes last 30mins and typically consist of the following-
- Warm-up - An activity to prepare the child for what is to come, improving body and spatial awareness, co-ordination and rhythm.
- Movement and dance activity - One or two activities focusing on specific actions such as galloping, hopping, jumping or skipping while learning to move in different shapes such as lines circles and diagonals.
- Dance - Either songs or stories to incorporate the movements we have been practicing.
- Cool down - An opportunity to use imagery and gentle movement to relax at the end of the session.
Dance In School
Arpino Academy of Dancing is able to create dance workshops for primary schools, in a variety of dance styles such as pop, street, contemporary, creative and expressive.
Workshops are tailored to your specific requirements, they can be 'one off' workshops or held over a number of weeks to develop skills, understanding and knowledge of dance.
Dance is an excellent physical, social and creative outlet. It is a useful for developing self-confidence in pupils and provides valuable opportunities for pupils to work towards a shared goal. The workshops provide pupils with the opportunity to learn with a specialized and fully qualified dance teacher and develop their own ideas in response to various stimuli.
